Discussing the List of Tags UI Component for DataHub

Original Slack Thread

<@U06TM7M40RK> is there a UI component that list all tags?

To view all available tags in the DataHub UI, you can perform a search using an asterisk (*) and then filter the results by tags. This method allows you to see all tags in one place, although it may not be the most efficient way to retrieve tags. According to a <Slack conversation>, this is a common approach used by users to list all tags.

Would you like more detailed information on how to perform this search or any other specific aspect of managing tags in DataHub?

Hello <@U084T0L7GS1> !
Is this answer accurate? If yes, then this might improve our experience.

We would like tags to also be governed and not just be randomly added.
An idea would be to add Tags as part of the Govern Tab so that it’s easier to curate, remove, managed them.![attachment]({‘ID’: ‘F08D4EXQHBQ’, ‘EDITABLE’: False, ‘IS_EXTERNAL’: False, ‘USER_ID’: ‘U06KBDDM5AT’, ‘CREATED’: ‘2025-02-14 08:52:43+00:00’, ‘PERMALINK’: ‘Slack’, ‘EXTERNAL_TYPE’: ‘’, ‘TIMESTAMPS’: ‘2025-02-14 08:52:43+00:00’, ‘MODE’: ‘hosted’, ‘DISPLAY_AS_BOT’: False, ‘PRETTY_TYPE’: ‘PNG’, ‘NAME’: ‘image.png’, ‘IS_PUBLIC’: True, ‘PREVIEW_HIGHLIGHT’: None, ‘MIMETYPE’: ‘image/png’, ‘PERMALINK_PUBLIC’: ‘https://slack-files.com/TUMKD5EGJ-F08D4EXQHBQ-972fba1dbe’, ‘FILETYPE’: ‘png’, ‘EDIT_LINK’: None, ‘URL_PRIVATE’: ‘Slack’, ‘HAS_RICH_PREVIEW’: False, ‘TITLE’: ‘image.png’, ‘IS_STARRED’: False, ‘PREVIEW_IS_TRUNCATED’: None, ‘URL_PRIVATE_DOWNLOAD’: ‘Slack’, ‘PREVIEW’: None, ‘PUBLIC_URL_SHARED’: False, ‘MESSAGE_TS’: ‘1739523259.984299’, ‘PARENT_MESSAGE_TS’: ‘1739523065.117319’, ‘MESSAGE_CHANNEL_ID’: ‘CV2UXSE9L’, ‘_FIVETRAN_DELETED’: False, ‘LINES_MORE’: None, ‘LINES’: None, ‘SIZE’: 13339, ‘_FIVETRAN_SYNCED’: ‘2025-02-16 13:03:38.801000+00:00’})

Hi Jake! So, tags are for simpler labeling and are really used to accelerate searching, are you using Glossary terms at all? Also - can you give me a bit more about your use case that would be super helpful! And if you would like to jump on a call I am always happy to do that s well!
